Pennsylvania to host Pan-Am Bowl

JANUARY 4, 2012 - "In a nod to history, the Pan-American Football League has chosen Beaver Stadium in State College, Pa., as the site for the first-ever Pa-Am Bowl.

The stadium, home to Penn State's football team, is the host site for six of the Pottsville Maroons' nine home games. The Maroons are named for the team that won the 1925 NFL championship, only to have recognition stripped from them on a technicality.

Beaver Stadium seats more than 107,000 fans for football. It earned the nod for the Pan-Am Bowl site over other bids submitted by Ciudad Mexico's Azteca Stadium, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Fla.
